Victor Colón founded VCR Consulting Group, Inc. in 1990 and is President and board member of the firm. Born and raised in New York City (Bronx), he is a career management pioneer in the Caribbean which came as a result of a major corporate divestiture which left him laid-off in California. Prior to establishing the Caribbean based firm, he was Human Resources Manager for Westinghouse Electric, Broadcasting and Cable division, responsible for the southwest region (southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas) curiously enough taking him back to his student days having been a graduate from New Mexico State University. He began his extensive training and coaching career in the US Air Force during the Viet Nam war where he, then certified with the FAA, coached on-the-job recruits in airport Air Traffic Control.
In the early 1990’s, Victor helped establish the International Association of Outplacement Professionals later renamed the Association of Career Professional Internationalwhere he served as board member. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Career Certification International (originally The Outplacement Institute) whose mission is to monitor, advance and set professional and ethical standards in the career management profession.
Under his leadership and vision and after establishing himself closer to his roots, he was able to attract major outplacement firms to Puerto Rico and now represents Lee Hecht Harrison — a world leader in Career Management and Leadership Consulting. He has coached executives at all levels and has helped literally thousands of people through the outplacement process — many of which have gone to establish their own business or have gone into the ministry.
He co-authored, with David Osborne, the Reinventing Government Facilitator’s Guide Book (Jossey Bass Publishers) and was part of David Osborne’s Latin America team where he participated in government transformation assignments in San Luis, Argentina.
Victor is also co-founder and CFO of IPL, a Washington DC based non-profit organization dedicated to public/community sector leadership training.
